Chinese Studies
In Chinese Studies, I learned a lot about the tones, for the pinyin, and I have learned a lot of new words, and how to put them into good sentences. At the beginning of the year, I wasn't really sure about what tone should go with each word. But now I am sure, and know, wich tone to put, for each character.I think I have learned a lot of words, and characters, more than the beginning of the year. We also did all sorts of fun games, so that helped me learn faster, for my mandarin.

Art
At art I have learned a lot techniques, how to make the art work more interesting. I have learned how to make tints and shades, and how to blend colors, and try to use opposite colors, and similar colors. Putting those details into my artwork, helped me easily describe and show, the little details, onto my art work. The color combination, and tints and shades, had changed the art work, into a more interesting piece. I think I have improved, and learned a lot, on the colors, and techniques, for art, and I would like to learn more and more thngs, and try to use them, to make my artwork better.

Music
At music, we have learned a lot of songs, and also how to read notes, and we had also played, a lot of songs on the Xylophone. I think I have got better at note reading, and my ensemble skills. Listening to the beat, and trying to follow it. We also did lesson, on the computers, on Music Ace. That had helped me a lot, on improving my listening skills, my note reading skills, and lots more things, to help me be a better at music. I would like tto be able to recognize notes, as soon as I see, them. That will be my goal for next year.

P.E.
At P.E. I have learned a lot how to do team work, and to work with lots of people, and listen to each others ideas, and complete small adventurous missions, together, with communication, and listening skills. That head help me learn how to work with people, and how I could improve next time, when we work in groups. I think my goal, is to try to be better at more kinds of sports, not just one type, and try to show some sportsmanship. Working with a group, was not that easy, because sometimes people could have different ideas.

Counseling

Mrs. Cadogan, had taught us a lot of things about bullying, and to be kind to other people. I have We have done lots of fun activities, about how to learn about these things. That had help me more understand, because we could actually try to act it out. By the end of the year, I would like to learn more about peoples feelings, and how they would feel if you do this and that. Some things, I have learned are some things I never knew, or I never even thought of. So I have learned a lot from Guidance.

Story of Learning

So far, I think I have accomplished few of my goals. I think I have to improve a little bit more on my writing goal. That is observing the world, and trying to get more interesting ideas, to get the readers attention. I think I have improved, but I need to improve much more, and by the end of this year, I hope my writing will improve more and more. For my reading I think I should, be able to make more infrencing. Writing a reading response journal, that is more interesting, and so the reader could get an idea of what the story is about. I think I have improved some bits, of that, but still I have to try more harder, to make the reader get the main idea, of the story. I have improved on my multiplication tables. A I use them a lot, I think I can do multiplication with more bigger numbers, and in my head, much more than the beginning of the year. I have completed most of my goals, nut I would like to improve more on my goals. I think my new goal, until the end of the year will be, tryng to work with bigger numbers, and to understand more about negative numbers, and finding out percents of numbers. For reading and writing, I think I can improve a little bit more on my goals I made at the beginning of the year. I will try hard to study more about the parts I need some help on, and try to accomplish them at the end of 5th grade. When I move to 6th grade, I think it will be better if I improve more on my writing, how I think of ideas, for my story.

My multiplication, trying to work with larger numbers, I think that have improved. The more writing we did, I learned a lot of punctuation marks, and all types of methods, for writing. Infrencing text was kind of hard for me. I have improved trying the beginning of the year, but I still want to be able to do infrencing. Making predictions, and going through hard problems in math, I have tried to accomplish those challenges, I had accomplished them, but I still need to work more on it, so I could get better and better with it, before sixth grade.

January/8th,2010

In writing, I have learned about nouns. Proper nouns common nouns and noun signals. Nouns is a person a place or a thing. Proper nouns are something that tells you in more details, like instead of dog, you say the dogs name. Noun signals are something that is describing a word. Like, many people. Many is telling you what or how many people.

It had helped me understand more about nouns, so I could learn more in sixth grade. It has also helped me, so I know what are nouns and what is the different with proper nouns. So I could use it in my writing, so it will get better and better each time I learn new things.

A common noun is a place person or thing. A proper noun is the same, but it is describing it more. For example, a common noun you just say girl, or boy. But for a proper noun you tell , what the girl or boys name is. Because you don't call people boy or girl, you call them by there names.

1. Tell why you think it is important to be able to divide numbers. For what kind of problems do you need to use division?

It is important to divide numbers, because a lot of questions, you need to use division, and even if you are outside, it is very useful , by dividing numbers. Problems like how many things in each group, it is easy if you know division. Most problem solving questions also has division .

2. Tell what part of this unit was the most difficult for you and why. Describe what you did to overcome any difficulties you had.

I think the hardest part was rounding the decimal up. Because you have to round it up, so there is no remainder, but I understand it after doing it. That if you round it up then you will know roughly how much.

Writing Reflection

1. What do I notice about myself as a writer as I read through my work?

When I read through my work, I notice that even I be careful there are a lot of punctuation misses. Sometimes there are parts that doesn't make sense to me . Other times I am reading my story, and I read it so many times that I don't find the mistake. I just get use to a little mistake where it doesn't make sense. There are not much spelling errors in my writing. When I go through my writing there are also some details in it. I also notice that sometimes I miss a word in a sentence. So it doesn't make sense. Even I check a lot of times sometimes at the end when someone else checks it I find a few mistakes, I haven't even noticed.

2. How have I changed as a writer so far?

At the beginning of the year my writing was more simple and I didn't have that much details in it. But now I think I have improved in putting more details. Also I had a few problems with marks when someone is talking and underlining and other punctuations ,but now I now where to put each punctuation in. I also think maybe, my story have become a little bit interesting than the beginning of the year, but I still want to make it better.

3. What are three things I do well as a writer?

1. I put in punctuation in the right place.

2. I make good paragraphs

3.Interesting introuduction

4. What are some things I want to get stronger at as a writer?

I want to get better at making good sentences that make sense, and try to make the main writing more stand out and make it interesting so the reader will want to read it. And to make the title interesting too. I also have to work on spelling big long words.

5. What is my favorite piece, and what are the things I love about it?

I don't really have a favourite peice, but I like the peices that are interesting and even I wrote it I would want to read it if I didn't write it. I like the peices that have details, and can have the main Idea stand out. I also like my story's that are in paragraphs, because it is much easyer to read. Also to have the write punctuatios in because then the meaning will change if the punctuation is in the wrong place.

My Learning

I liked playing Factor Captor because you learn more about factors and about prime, and composite numbers. I enjoyed the part when I had to think of the factors for the number my partner chose for me. I just like looking for factors. But sometimes they try to give me a prime number, and most of the time if you don't go first the one is already covered, and that number is also covered because that's the number my partner chose.

When I make an array It helps me find factors of a number. Because an array is two factors just made into dots. So if you try to draw a array it is the same thing as drawing two factors by dots. So if you draw an array it is easy to find the factors. If you just draw any array. If you count the number of columns and the number of rows they are the factors of the number of dots altogether.

I really enjoyed learning prime numbers and factors, and other things related to multiplication. I really learned a lot about prime numbers. Before I didn't understand what prime numbers were. I learned that prime numbers are numbers that only has two factors one and it's self. A composite number is a number that has more than two factors. An array is like a drawing of two factors. All these are all related to multiplication. I also thought fact triangles were really cool. There's a number at the bottom. If it was multiplication you multiplicate the two bottom numbers and it equal's the number at the top and it works the other way round too.

Math :

I think math is really fun. You get to solve problems , You could use decimals and make lots of numbers smaller than zero. Doing math is just like having fun. I like problem solving. It is just like a little game. When you have to try to solve it then try to fit it to the solution. In the past few weeks we have been learning about square numbers. They are products of the same numbers multiplied together. We have also learned about prime and composite numbers. Composite numbers are numbers that have more than two factors. Prime numbers are numbers that only has two factors. one and its self. I had a little bit of a problem on big numbers with decimals . Like the hundredths place and the thousandths place and others. But now I am able to figure it out more than the past few weeks. I think for math you have to try hard until you get it . And to try your best.
